Women Producer Selection: Mexican GRAPOS
We are beaming with pride when it comes to our latest specialty coffee offering: FTO Women Producer Selection – Mexico GRAPOS!
GRAPOS, or Grupo de Asesores de Producción Orgánica y Sustentable S.C., is a group of coffee producers in Chiapas, southern Mexico. There are about 90 member farmers from various smallholder farms in the region, each growing varieties including Tipica, Bourbon, Caturra, Mondo Novo, and Catuaí. The coffee trees are generally between 10 – 20 years old, and the altitude is approximately 900-1600 MASL (meters above sea level).
There are so many good things about GRAPOS. To name a few, it is certified Fair Trade and Organic. Members of GRAPOS can enjoy services including community development programs and financial/technical aid. Women play an essential role on these farms, and GRAPOS recognizes and celebrates their contribution to the industry.
