What’s The Story?
Spring Loaded has become a staple here at Electric City Roasting. Each year, we meticulously seek coffees that embody the gentle transition from winter’s cozy embrace to the vibrant renewal of spring. Capturing this seasonal shift is the very heart of Spring Loaded, and this year is no exception. But that begs the question, what’s exactly in this year’s Spring Loaded?
The Contents.
This year’s Spring Loaded represents exactly what we aimed for. At its foundation is a washed Colombian coffee, providing a rich, full body accented by deep cocoa notes. We chose this coffee intentionally, as its robust, comforting flavors beautifully evoke the lingering warmth of winter.
But the real star of the show is the washed Ethiopian Kochere. This coffee elevates the blend by adding delicate sweetness, bright acidity, and elegant floral notes, perfectly capturing the freshness and vibrancy we associate with spring.
Now, for all the coffee nerds out there (don’t worry, we’re right there with you 😉), you might wonder why we didn’t select a natural processed coffee. Here’s the thing: Spring Loaded isn’t meant to deliver a wild “Ah Ha!” moment. Sure, we all vividly remember our first natural processed Ethiopian coffee (it tasted like blueberries, right?) and how it forever changed our coffee journey. This year, we seriously considered both a washed Kochere and a natural processed Sidamo. Ultimately, we landed on the washed Kochere because it distinctly showcased floral brightness without tipping the scale too far into fruity or fermented territory.
The result? A nuanced, versatile, and downright tasty cup that perfectly captures springtime. Enjoy it however you brew best, hot, iced, or as an espresso, and savor the season with every sip.
