Harvest

The Source/Flavor of Harvest

For this year’s Harvest we used specialty coffee beans from Colombia, one of our organic Peruvian lots, and a washed coffee from the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia. The Colombian offers a rich cocoa base to the coffee, the Yirgacheffe provides a nice crisp acidity, and the Peruvian ties it all together to give the coffee a subtle sweetness.

Why?

Harvest has been an Electric City Roasting Company staple for years, so we thought we would share with you the why behind our popular seasonal blend. According to our product specialist, Kyle Mervau, there are several reasons for it. First and foremost, Kyle was searching for a blend that would embody the nostalgia that we all feel for the fall season. The cool weather, wearing your favorite flannel, hearing the leaves crunch beneath your boots, these are the feelings that Kyle was hoping this blend would invoke. Nostalgia aside, he also wanted a coffee that would be a good transition between the brighter, floral and acidic coffees that are prevalent in the summer. To accomplish this, there is a Yirgacheffe, Ethiopian component in the coffee that adds that crisp acidity that is commonly found in many summer blends. Coupling this together with the rich cocoa flavor of the Colombian, and the subtle sweetness of the organic Peruvian, this blend accomplishes what it set out to do.

Get ready for something great!

We are incredibly excited for you all to get your hands on this year’s Harvest. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that Harvest encompasses everything that has, and continues to make this nostalgic blend such a hit year after year.
